GradingIn English class, you will be graded using the following weighting system:
Tests: 30%, Quizzes: 20% Assignments: 30% Participation: 10% Homework: 10% In Technology class, you will be graded using the following weighting system: Formal Assessments: 50% Assignments: 30% Participation: 20% Just remember that a grade is only a reflection of your knowledge and abilities in a particular area. Your grade is not a reflection of who you are. |
HomeworkAll middle school subjects will be utilizing the same homework policy, as detailed in the updated Student Handbook.
Homework: Complete and on time: 100% One day late: 50% Multiple days late: 0 Assignments: 10% reduction in grade for each day late Assignments are not accepted after four days. All homework and assignments must be written in your agenda. Students will be given at least two days on all assignments that require the use of technology. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that he or she will have appropriate access to a computer/printer in order to complete the assignment. Please contact the teacher IMMEDIATELY if there is an issue. |
ExpectationsStudents will enter the classroom quietly, with all necessary materials (including homework), and sit down ready to learn. Homework will always be checked FIRST and should be open and on the desk.
Students are to be respectful to their teacher, their peers and the belongings of both. Being respectful means speaking with kind words, not talking back, raising your hand when you need to speak, offering to help others and being a willing and active member of a group. Students are to keep track of all assignments and assessments in his or her agenda. SHORT-TERM ABSENCES: Students will be given one day for each absent day (short-term) to make up all classwork and homework. Students that are absent on the day of a quiz or test will make that assessment up in class the next day in school. Likewise, if a student is absent the day an assignment/homework is due, that assignment/homework must be turned in the upon the student's return. LONG-TERM ABSENCE: If a student is sick for an extended period of time, the parent is asked to contact the teacher to make arrangements for the completion of work. |
